There are more than 1600 plant species, 22 of which are endemic, and 350 species of birds, 7 of which are endemic, 26 different reptiles and a variety of species that can live in water. One of the reasons why so much of its diversity is that Cyprus has not been affected by the last Ice Age and other reason Cyprus is a place of resting and nesting for migratory birds between Africa and Eastern Europe.
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate. Temperatures vary according to seasons. These low pressure areas cause unstable weather and annual rainfall for up to one day. The average rainfall from December to February accounts for about two-thirds of the annual average.
